Coaching Detroit Forward and The Detroit Writing Room are seeking a multimedia intern to work with our 2026 Photography and Journalism Camps for Detroit high school students. The camps are led by award-winning photographers, journalists and graphic designers who are coaches with The Detroit Writing Room as well as The New York Writing Room.

In early July, the two-week Journalism Camp will be held in partnership with Planet Detroit at Wayne State University’s Journalism Institute for Media Diversity. Up to 25 Detroit high school students will have the opportunity to write stories focused on health, the environment and social justice topics. Their stories will be published by Planet Detroit and in our annual print publication Perspectives Magazine. The multimedia intern will take daily photos of the camp experience as well as produce highlight videos for social media.
